Yay. Three day weekend. I'm glad to be out of school. But school actually wasn't so terrible today, and that added on to my not-so-bad piano lesson makes me happy. ^^ Wheeeeeee!!!
I feel so achieved today. I actually managed to... achieve stuff. =='' Okay, bad description.
Mm. With the block schedule, there was no period 1 today. But per2orchFran was relatively fun. Francisco didn't actually do much of the teaching. Boitz conducted most of the time while Francisco sat in the backrooms and called people in for "auditioning." The audition went well. =) I didn't mess up or make any major mistakes. Still, I think he marked me down on intonation. It's not my fault. >> I was tuning in the morning and the school cello's fine tuner (for the G string) would not move. It just wouldn't turn. It was absolutely stuck.
Actually, same with the D string. But for the D string it was because the fine tuner was twisted to its maximum; I had to use the top knobs to fix it. >< I could've done that with the G string too, except we had left off tuning and gone into music playing by then, and it was also a risky business (if you don't push it in tight enough the whole thing could start unravelling) so I ended up playing with well-tuned C, D, and A strings, and a rather flat G string. =='' I had to specially adjust and play everything higher on the G string. It was annoying. But yeah.... fun stuff.
Lessee... per4drivedOben had nothing to do with DrivEd, as usual. We'll be learning that... later in the year, says she. More lollipops! And little "socializing" games. Everyone sat at these desks in pairs of two, according to the seating arrangements, right? Well, the person sitting on the left has to get up and go sit next to someone he/she hasn't sat next to before. And you introduce yourself. And Obenour asks a random question (e.g. "Would you rather ride an elephant or a camel?") ...and the people discuss the question with their partner. I was sitting on the left so I had to move around, while Jamie sat and made faces at me because he just had to sit there. >> Stupid person.
Mmf. Introduced myself to... a number of people. The guy named Mike is also from Taiwan, like Jennifer. Their English sounds about the same. We got the elephant camel question and we ended up discussing it in Mandarin. He'd rather ride an elephant because they're more tame than camels (....really?) and because they just seemed.... safer? And yeah. I told him I didn't want to ride either and I can get squished by the elephant and he was like oO;; Are you sure that's a good idea?
I also met the Korean girl from Korea... not very fluent in English. Then there were just random others whose names I don't remember. Vikky? Who thinks she's evil? There was Nicole... and that girl whom I forgot the name of but we had to talk about the worst clothes our parents ever made us wear. And I went to Tiffy, of course. Who else?
Ohohoh there was this boy I-forgot-his-name who knew Alex and Victor from their old schools? Urk. What was his name? It slipped my mind. I'll remember it later and feel stupid. Yeah. Anyways, I told him how Alex liked to intercept our frisbees and how we'd race him for it or throw it over his head or w/e.... and how annoying Victor was in math class. =_= We probably would've rambled on a lot more about old times - I was going to tell him how Alex pwnt all in science with the survival of the fittest lab by supersurviving with his chopsticks ('twas chopsticks spoons forks and knives).... Asian pride, yo! - but there wasn't enough time. Ehh.... ;_; It was nice talking to him.
Okay.... what was after that? Lunch. Got a slice of pizza - free pizza for new non-Redwood students. =P And ate my bagel, yet again.
Then was per6eng9Sutt. We were supposed to have our 3 inch binders with all the supplies (and the supply list was rather large, btw) today. I had most of the supplies, but not all. >< But my textbook cover was wonderful! It was made from a Chinese calendar so it had this nice Chinese watercolor picture on the front. =D And I actually filled out the goldenrods and I actually turned them in! That made me feel accomplished. I didn't have my pink sheet of prepositions that we were supposed to memorize, but Sutton didn't notice because I was sitting in the back, and when it came time for before-quiz review our little groups were supposed to chant the list together. I didn't study the list so I listened while they chanted and aced the quiz anyways. She gives us so much time for review.... =)
I got a 3/2 on the last quiz. That also made me happy. Then halfway through the class Mrs. Hyde arrived to give us a small talk on behavior and stuff (first dance is tonight) and she really liked our class because we actually responded to her and asked questions and stuff whereas the other classes just kind of stared and snoozed. Then... Amy came! Yes, to the school! She's back from Berkeley for the weekend. And she dropped in to visit Ms. Sutton during our class. And that made Sutton very happy. And she also gave me a three-hole punch and some pens which I put into my three inch binder... so I did have all the materials. Actually I think I might've still been missing one or two items, but yeah. It was very helpful.
So Sutton's class ended happily, and I talked with Amy for a bit... she was still kind of talking to Ms. Sutton... oh yeah, I saw Adam's band friend there and we, uh, waved at each other? I felt obliged to say something but I didn't know his name. ;_; It's kind of sad. I recognize two or three of his band/orchestra friends because he bumped into them when he took me to the orientation and they had long talks of current orchestra/band status and reminisced and all... and I recognize their faces and I actually know some of their names. But I can't match the names to their faces. >< They all look the same! I swear. They're all Asian, about the same height, same haircut.... _ _;;
Anyways, realized that school wasn't over just because Amy was there, so I rushed off to per7bioCoch. Cochrum was funny as always. We did a peanut lab. We each got a peanut and we had to describe it very detailedly and then we trade papers and try to find the right peanut? It was moderately interesting. The guy I sat next to was attempting to destroy his peanut. After the lab was over. He was repeatedly hitting it on the desk and I was like "What are you trying to do? Kill it?!" And he was like "Yeah DUH."
.........
Well, I told him it'd be easier if he just squeezed it and he did and it almost broke which resulted in "Whoa! I wasn't really planning to break it, you know!" Yeah. Well later we were allowed to work on our homework so we all went and got Bio books and I had to write down the definitions of science and observations and inferences all over again >< but anyways he PUT the Bio book on the peanut to see what would happen and it completely died. =='' Fell apart. Cracked. Died. It was pretty funny, actually.
...and Bio is always fun with Cochrum as your teacher, so the day ended on a good note. Biked home, passed all of the "walkers" and made faces at them, arrived, and REJOICED!! No more school for 3 days!

Date: 2005-09-02 09:46 pm (UTC)It looks like you had a not-so-bad day. And you're 100 times better at going up and introducing yourself to people. Heehee..looks like you had a lot of success on that part.
