yay.
from end of summer til now...
2 and a half months!
finally passed C Major scale.
/happyhappyjoyjoy
on to G!
edit: oh, and Cello's back. that makes me happy too. ♥
edit2: er, right. FYI, C Major scale != just a four octave scale. otherwise that's reallyyyyy embarrassing. >>;
C Major scale = scale + arpeggio + Dom7th arpeggio + dim7th arpeggio + chromatic + scale in octaves + scale in sixths + scale in thirds. (and the last 3, btw, are a lot worse on cello than on piano T___T)
that's why I'm so happy. ^^
edit3: you know, talks/half-lectures from my mom have the opposite effect on me in that afterwards I feel less inclined to work than I ever did and just want to go play computer games and waste time.
I dunno. I find it hard to motivate myself through confrontational lectures. They make me rebellious.
whereas, if I were my mom dealing with me, I'd subtly question myself on how life was going and all, and then nod and act like I understand whether I do or not, then be like, "you know, I find that doing such-and-such helps me with such-and-such a lot! new thing I learned with your dad from our Buddhist zen training." and leave. Just an idle remark. If it's a good point, it'll set me to thinking. Honestly, sometimes sticking around to prove your point really isn't going to help your point, kthxbye.
Seriously. I hear the merit in her words. but when she comes and goes, "You should do this, you should do that, I learned from our Buddhist classes that this and this leads to this and this and I think you should do this, junior year's supposed to be really busy and I'm worried and listen to me, all right, I'm worried you're not going to listen to me, I want a response from you! I want you to promise that you'll think about this. Promise. Promise? Promise! All right, that's good, that's all I wanted to say, bye now. (then, with one foot out the door) I really think you should change your ways the way I said, think about it!"
that turns me off from what she has to say so much. so freaking much. asdf;aksjfdlk;ajlkdfa;l annoying.
(lol gumball machine vs. bubblegum machine. double lol headlight vs. headlight.)
owned at graffiti T___T
edit4: I waste so much time on the computer ahahaha.
Had a philosophical discussion over dinner w/parents that started out regarding basically exactly what I said in the previous edit, and somehow morphed into concentration (ability to focus) vs. consideration, and levels of focus and clarity of the mind, and then analysis of individual members of our family aaaaaand stuff. concentration -> state of focus -> alpha beta delta within brain -> that mode of tuning everyone out when you read a good book or become absorbed in hw -> intuitive guessing on standardized testing mode vs. slowly reasoning each problem out -> SATs test your ability to take the SATs -> college discussion.
so we've generally resolved our differences. until new ones come up. xD;

Date: 2007-10-29 02:52 am (UTC)um the C scale is on the top note for sixths and the bottom note for thirds. does that help?

Date: 2007-10-29 03:13 am (UTC)except the top note follows the C major scale and it's in sixths instead of fourths/fifths.
or the bottom note follows the C major scale and it's in thirds.
or the bottom note follows the C major scale and it's in eighths i.e. octaves.
chromatic? except for cellos. low C to high high high C.
