a button is a button for a reason. a button isn't simply text that changes color for one reason: because it is hard to read. this is why by default links in html are bright blue, bolded AND UNDERLINED. just bright blue and bolded is still more difficult to distinguish. see difference between style a and style b. it's just a side effect of the way human eyes work.

very, very, very disappointed in apple's choice to use borderless buttons for ios 7. i am all for minimalism and ease of use, but this is a choice which only makes life difficult for developers wishing to design with good ui, who now must either create virtual borders using masks or page layout design, and difficult on consumers' eyes. making as much white space as possible =/= good visual hierarchy or readability. even apple knows this. do you see a lack of borders around the apps in ios 7? can you imagine what it would look like if every app's icon lost its rounded box definition and all blended into a pure white background? if you're going borderless, why not make the entire home page borderless?

because it's ugly, that's why.

other features look much nicer, i'll admit, but until apple decides to fix they will not be having my support in any way/shape/form.

edit 11-26: slightly less hate because they have a bg color feature that makes it look like a button again (because the bg color outlines the border, duh). still not a fan of borderless buttons tho
