omgcrazy day.
So, late to school, muddled through English, had most of orchestra off, and ended up spending about an hour sitting in the same place in the PAL chatting with a group of people, until like everyone else left and it was all dark and everything, and we just went blahblahblah on and on and on. xD; Was that really today? Wow it seems really long ago right now.
Anyway was playing w/Wooho's phone, had the brilliant idea to prank call random people and sing- Iono, the llama song. So I did. Then Kimby had the brilliant idea to go "Congratulations, you have just won a free llama! If you wish to receive your llama, please contact Mr. Boitz." or something along those lines. Except I cracked up too hard and couldn't do it. So Kimby had to say that part. And then we did variations with the llama thing, i.e. changing "llama" to *two-syllable name* right here. It's been a while since I laughed so hard my stomach hurt. xD;
oh yah rehearsed random chamber stuff in tutorial. Thennnnnn umm don't remember exactly. stuff. poetry. more rehearsal afterschool, then madbiking home to get to piano class on time, then after piano stuffing real quick dinner and off to concert!
OHMYGOD. so the cleaning ladies have been to the house. a while ago. (I haven't practised cello at all this week...) and they moved my cello. AND ALL FOUR STRINGS WERE OUT OF TUNE. the C string was completely loose, the A was a B flat, the G was an E flat, the D I don't even know what it was... it was horrible. Spent lots of time tuning backstage and got on just in time.
Concert we did pretty well IMO. Byron Wong's a beast. He conducts better than Francisco. He should've conducted for us last year.
Fair # of alumni were there. Anyway. PIRATES. PIRATES PIRATES PIRATES.
It was... sort of disappointing. They absolutely destroyed the old soundtrack, which, while it wasn't everything they had going for them, was a big part of it, and seeing as the 3rd movie plot dwindles a lot more than 1st, they really could have used it, but, they didn't! Highly disappointing. I really dislike the 3rd soundtrack. As Jeff Lee put it, they embellished and in the process blemished. hahahaha
It was v. random, too. A lot of absolutely bizarre moments that don't make any sense. Those usually crack me up, though, so that wasn't so bad. Random funnies like that don't appeal to everyone, though, so it depends on the person I guess.
Beginning sort of dragged on a bit. It just wasn't- interesting. Nothing was happening! Well it was, and things were, but it was really serious. And Jack Sparrow doesn't appear for a long while, because, y'know, he's dead. And the movie without Jack Sparrow just isn't the same.
The end was pretty good. It got more satisfying towards the end. Though afterwards, upon reflection, there's still some slight feeling of discontent. I attribute it to the soundtrack. =/ Wtf was that weird guitar thing in the middle? I'd just say the general attitude walking away from it would be more like "ehhhhhhhhhhh" while the general attitude for the first one had been something more like "*exhale* woooooooooooooooow"
Obv, didn't go to BJs or anything for the sake of Pirates, but it was pretty worth it. Jeff Lee's a funny guy. And Felicia's always awesome to talk to. :) And overall- don't think it was so bad as people said. Sure, it wasn't quite as good, but I wouldn't necessarily rank it lower than movie #2 (aside from the soundtrack bit, augh, that just GROUND on my NERVES ok but it's probably just me). It's fairly epic, still.
