I think Dahl is a lot morbider than Poe, in a lot of ways.
Maybe it's because the most disturbing of his stories remain fairly plausible. Poe is all blood and gore. I deal fine with blood and gore. Even The Fall of the House of Usher wasn't so bad as I thought it'd be.
THESE. the more I reread them, the more disturbed I am.

Date: 2006-12-16 08:19 pm (UTC)Dahl is blood and gore, I think... Kiss Kiss is just about cannibals and rotting corpses and murder. Poe is supernatural creepiness. I mean, at least Dahl's stories have some sort of logicality. But the Tell-Tale Heart was just plain odd.
Morbider ain't a word, dahlin'.

Date: 2006-12-16 10:44 pm (UTC)Well Dahl isn't openly blood and gorey, like descriptive-wise. He's kind of more subtle about it, while Poe's certainly NOT. Poe is one disturbed guy oO
oh. whatever.
