Dear Livejournal,

I wanted to write this entry in Chinese, because I think in Chinese over here. But I discovered that thinking in Chinese is a lot faster than typing in Chinese!! Oh well.

Taipei was all about 吃喝玩樂! (haha I guess I can’t help some Chinese after all)

I watched a movie called 聽說. Chen ahyi kept saying “聽說聽說很好看!” 然後一直笑. She reminds me of my dad. No wonder they were friends... 三八 buddies yo. ^^V

I thought Chen ahyi’s son was a middle schooler when I first saw him! But it turns out he’s actually... twenty. Ahahaha. I think people in Taiwan are just short. Probably the atmosphere in Taiwan is so humid that it obstructs their growth. Or maybe all the bizarre foods do something weird to their hormones.

Speaking of bizarre foods, I had some 麻油雞 (sesame chicken??) flavored ice cream the other day. Basically, it was salty. And it tasted exactly like 麻油雞. And it was ICE CREAM. EWWWWWWWWWWWW yeah don’t ever eat salty ice cream you’ll be sick. There was curry flavored too! And weird stuff like basil flavored, chrysanthemum flavored, bitter melon flavored... crazily accurate. And (in some cases) crazily gross. Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans anyone?

Chen ahyi’s daughter 超人氣的. She took me around 台大 (National Taiwan University) which was superrrr pretty. I want to study there for a semester or two when I have the time.

So the reason I thought of her was that I went to the (GROSS?) ice cream shop with her and her choir group – she does a lot of club activities – and they break out into song before every meal! hahaha weirdoes (:

Yess Taiwan is all about FOOD. Foodfoodfood. Go look up that ice cream place if you have the time, it’s called 雪王 (Snow King). The stinky tofu here is delicious! As is the aiyu and the bubble tea and the nightmarket shaved ice mmmmmmmm. I went to a restaurant other day that for the first time replicated my grandmother’s (SECRET RECIPE!!) soup almost exactly. I was impressed.

Went to a KFC, did not get chicken but got 蛋塔 yummy. Heard a story about a shop which sold a special drink called 心痛的感覺 (the taste of heartache) which costs something like 20$ USD....

...and is a cup of water.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA SUCKERS

Am stuffed to the brim with exotic fruits, packed full of gifts (srsly half my suitcase is gifts I’ll have to lug to Japan ¬.¬) and now in lovely Taichung where… I was promptly stuffed full of even more food. Don’t think I’ve eaten this well in months (better relish it before I’m off to the most expensive district in Japan T__T).

Mmmm hopefully will get a camera tomorrow or the day after. I walked all up and down the camera lane on 武昌街 and cameras here really are more expensive than in America. Who knew?

IF YOU WANT ANYTHING FROM TAIWAN TELL ME NOW. Also I refuse to take anything larger than the size of my fist, because like I said, half my suitcase is already stuffed with gifts.

Love,
Adela

PS.
