Career Day
Apr. 21st, 2009 05:08 pmYes, school today was "career day" and I, being me, forgot utterly what career speakers I had signed up to hear!
Alas.
But never fear! I, being me, had the foresight to select interesting and engaging career talks to listen to, because I knew I would forget what I had chosen within the hour. I have selective memory loss.
And thus it came to be that I gave myself a pleasant surprise today when I walked into room 1010 and discovered that I had chosen Forensic Science.
We had some nice discussions on blood splatters, DNA fingerprinting, and dead bodies. I learned a bit more about how they match forged handwriting to original handwriting, and as logically follows, a bit more about how to evade being caught at forging. MAYHAPS THIS WILL COME IN HANDY... except I'm already 18 and the lady didn't talk much about signatures. Ah well.
My second career choice was Biotechnology. As soon as I heard this I figure I'd stepped into the wrong room, because being me, even the me of my past, I would never, ever, ever have signed up for Biotechnology. What an unpleasant surprise. But I waited a while more, and overheard that the talk was supposed to be on Digital Animation/Media Arts and the Biotechno guy was just a filler. Now, why would you get a Biotechno guy to fill in for a room of kids expecting Digital Animation? But the Animation man came in the end, and all was well.
My third surprise was a surprise gift from the FBI. Free, fancy, handheld, NIFTY, COOL-LOOKING BOOKLIGHT. YAY I ALREADY WANT TO JOIN THE FBI. I AM SO EASILY BOUGHT WITH GIFTS.
Our talk was led by not one but two special agents. Both in the realm of crime i.e. the special agents that get down into the field and do combat i.e. guys carrying guns i.e. the real thing.
They were awesome.
Now I kind of want to join the FBI, except I hate fitness testing (except stretch tests and running), which means I would probably fail out and become an accountant. hup.
So that was the bulk of my day. The rest was relatively uninteresting.
edit: Oh and yesterday was National Weed Day. Don't smoke marijuana boys and girls!
