chu_totoro: (AS-- forgive me)
Dear Livejournal,

Forgive me. I totally fell asleep reading about wrathful grapes yesterday, and did not feel like posting when I dragged myself out of bed at 1 am to go brush my teeth, change into pajamas, and climb (bunk bed) back into the comfortable blankets.

In all honesty, though, The Grapes of Wrath is a good book. I really like Steinbeck. :)

On the same vein, I also finished Roald Dahl's Ghost Stories, which, contrary to popular assumption, is NOT a book of ghost stories written by Roald Dahl but a book of ghost stories COMPILED by Roald Dahl. Most of them aren't that scary. But some of them are pretty hair-raising/chilly.

I also read P.S. Your Cat Is Dead by James Kirkwood. It is hilarious. I love it. [livejournal.com profile] kyouten, if you're reading this entry, I highly recommend it you. I think you'll like it, particularly one of the characters introduced later on...

Other people, just be warned of craziness and gayness. It is not a book about gay people, don't get me wrong, it is an excellent book, but if gay things disgust you I think you shouldn't read it. Also if you don't find those "crazy" things funny, not for you.

Again, though, I love it.

Hafta leave for Columbia now. :x Tell about Princeton etc later.

Love,
Adela
chu_totoro: (FMA-- I sleep now kthxbye)
So, yesterday, Princeton.

Nicer than I thought it would be, considering. HOWEVER that may have been due to the extraordinary fact that it was actually a nice day out (bright and sunny) which cast a cheerful glare on everything. Reminded me of CA.

We missed the first tour as mom completely miscalculated time. :x Shadowed a comedy/satire class which was pretty funny (The Wind Ungone vs. Gone With the Wind?) and had a really good tour guide for the next tour (loud enough to be heard, also funny and informative) though weather was a bit hot walking around.

So... guess who I saw!

DYLAN SHINZAKI. From CTY '05.

Seriously, I've talked to him on and off (very occasionally) the past two and a half years, but I hadn't seen him since, well, that day at the end of those three weeks everyone said their goodbyes and drove away from LMU. But it may as well have been an hour instead of two and a half years, because he looked exactly the same. It wasn't even an Is that Dylan? That looks sort of like Dylan. it was a *twitch* DYLAN?

Ahahaha he didn't recognize me though. Not right off the bat.

So apparently he got into Princeton, Cornell, and a coupla UCs, and he's trying to choose between them. So far seems tilting towards Pton yeah?

Saw Del too, he hadn't changed much except that he slouches more which I didn't notice too much but both my parents did and that was the only memorable thing they kept repeating. >.> Annoyin. Esp. my dad.

Soooo Del ought to slouch less! :D

mmmm so we didn't do anything because the tour guide was pretty thorough (and because it's hot walking around outside T__T) and I got - -ll ed for not having anything particular in mind (ahahahaha) buuuut... I mean I couldn't think of much to do. coz if I didn't go visit him, I probably would just have wandered around campus looking at things with parents (my mom has this affinity towards buildings) and eaten and wandered around NJ some more until it was time to drive home. Coulda joined in some frisbee games maybe. Lots of people around campus playing frisbee. That was a major major plus for Pton and against NYU. =/ Lack of a campus, y'know. I mean there's Union square, but no one plays frisbee there. I passed at least 3 different groups playing on different fields on Pton campus.

And k shut up I know, I won't base my college choices on frisbee availability, it's just a minor addition on top of... all the other more important factors. >>;;

On that note, Columbia has rather crappy areas of grass, compared to Pton and Yale. And Harv and MIT, for that matter. But there were also people frisbeeing on it! And they have a UF team. :O

Columbia seems to focus on grad though. Dunno so much about undergrad.

Katie took me shopping around the Soho area today! They have all these cute random Japanese stores that don't exist in CA. I bought a $5 cap at kidrobot with a funny bunny on the front. & some purple pens. & purple polo. Go purple! Ms. Sutton is starting to infect me with her obsessive purpleness.

In other news, my EPGY tutor's being a bitch and I'm pretty fucked for multivariate right now. But we're working on resolving it through my actual tutor (this Indian dude) who actually helps, which is what a tutor is supposed to be instead of the antithesis of helpful (i.e. trying his best to bring you down while getting the most money out of it).

The pearl milk tea @ TenRen's was surprisingly delicious. mmmmm pearl milk tea.

In other other news, we watched a documentary (sort of) called "Life After People," about what would happen if all the people just vanished one day. In about 1000 years no one will know we ever really existed. :x How depressing.

mmmmmmmmmmmmm bed.
