Companies bleach tampons with stuff like chlorine, supposedly to "purify" it. (Don't trust what they say; it also has the convenient factor of making the tampons look whiter.)

...so, if you use tampons, know that you're also sticking a bunch of who-knows-what chemicals up your vagina.
