I am getting really sick of my little sister barging in and closing my door whenever she wants.

Like, seriously. At least ask. Or tell me why you're doing it. What if I have a reason for keeping the door open?

it was the VALLEY of hell. oops! :)

I want to get a fob haircut just to prove I've been in the land of fobs. Sadly, the ajummas here with their snappish Korean and careless 5-minute attitude freak me out.

Aaaand it's Monday! The wheels of homework have again begun to churn...

we went to the sea.

this time it was the beach.

I had a very interesting time running around in a hamster ball. And can I just say - a hamster's life sucks!! T____T I am so sorry hamsters I will never put you in a hamster ball again. At least not IN WATER. boo hoo hoo hoo.

I have a set of 108 prayer beads on my wrist, each one which I had to do the full bow and kneel (you know, on the 蒲团) for at 4 in the morning. Is this what my mom does at temple stays?

Oh, and then the next day (or was it the same?) we went into a huge crazy limestone cave, every diverging path of which was labelled with signs such as "Cave of Hell" and "Coral Popcorn" or "Fountain of Dream (Beware Crocodile)".

Working hard on my resume and long-distance Berkeley apartment hunting. Even managed to wake up at 5 this morning for a Skype meeting that's actually tomorrow morning! That said, going to sleep now... *collapse*

that I haven't had sundubu once since I got here. Not once.

Sundubu time!

because one friend is very sick and the other has disappeared, and I feel like rolling around in the mud isn't really something you do by yourself. That is, unless you're a pig. but I'm not!

We threw a basketball around the other day and since then I've been feeling this urge to run around until the heat rises off me in waves and my pants cling disgustingly to my leg because, I don't know. I just want to. I literally just want to run around and throw things at a hoop, it's so fun! It's like. You get to throw things. At things. Wheeeeeeee.

I miss middle school, a bit. I think it's coz I had the same urge back then, to run around after every meal for as long as it took before I got sick of running around (which was sometimes only 10 minutes), and then we all just ran around and played tag all day until we wanted to stop. It's like a mud fest. It's not as fun to run around if no one wants to run around with you, and the one thing I think has changed since middle school is we all got a lot lazier, including me.

Also, if anyone has a baby sister, will they give me some tips? I can't tell if my sister likes me or hates me. Some days I try to talk to her and it's like I'm talking to a wall.

Adela: yadda yadda yadda
Sister: ...
Adela: yadda yadda yadda?
Sister: look of death

Then on random days, she comes into my room and plays games on the iPad with me and shrieks so loud my ears fall off, and plays my own jellyfish tricks on me (highfive! jellyfish) and falls over herself laughing and then gets bored and runs away.

I. don't. understand. @__@

are up and down. They're working us ragged, and they're so disorganized that I don't think they realize it (this whole program is like a patchwork quilt that somehow fit together at the seams, despite each chunk being haphazardly sewn on by a different person), but throughout this mad tangled mess of an educational adventure, there are moments like these.

This is from the trip last weekend, a picture I didn't take because I spent so long staring, mesmerized, at the sea that I forgot I had a camera.

Can they improve? Yes. Would it really get better? I can't say. But at the end of the day, even if I wouldn't sign up for something like this again, was it more interesting, more visceral, more alive than life behind a computer desk?

my pictures made me realize just how grateful I am to be here.

I mean, this is ridiculous! I'm sitting in a pink princess room right now that belongs to my 11 year old little sister, with flower patched curtains and pink ears hanging off the bunny chair (yes, I am sitting on a pink bunny chair), and two minutes ago I just had a conversation with a curious jumpy little Asian girl who ran up to me to say "rice" before shoving a bowl of instant ramen in front of me, and who just ran out the door again and slammed it behind her, having shouted into the phone at her mother that unni (me) is going out tonight. In Korean.

Just - what. the. hell? How is this even happening? How is this possible?! It's like I'm in the middle of a dream!

This weekend I am going to a mud fest. A MUD FEST. What the hell is that? Do Korean people just like to roll around in the mud? I DON'T UNDERSTAND. THIS IS SO CRAZY. I haven't stopped to think about my life in the past four weeks, but when I do, I can't wrap my head around the fact that I am actually running around in the middle of nowhere in a Korean countryside cracking lame Korean jokes with our odd short haired manager and chomping hot dogs made of corn. Like. Really. Who makes hot dog buns out of corn?

Off to a cafe to study. Where undoubtedly I will spend many minutes squinting at the strange markings on the wall (AH-MAE-REE-KA-NO) only to collapse at last when I realize that yes, it says Americano.

Now I know why I couldn't find any blogs/information about this program online when I was searching for it last year.
